Set Up The SUV Tent
Lay out the SUV tent over a flat area that is free from rocks and sticks. Thread the top pole (with (2) plastic end caps) through the top pole sleeve and the (2) awning pole sleeves. Thread the (2) end poles through the end pole sleeves. Line up the end poles’ bent ferules (Fig 1) with the top pole (Fig 2).
Place the top pole’s ends into the awning pockets(Fig 3). Raise the tent by bending the end poles until they go over their corresponding pole pins (Fig 4). Do not use excessive force when bending the tent poles and make sure the pole sleeves slide over the poles without hanging up. When setting up the tent solo, it may be helpful to stake down the tent’s (4) corners before bending the end poles. Just be sure to remove the stakes once the tent has been raised.
Attach the pole clips to the end poles (Fig 5).
Attach The SUV Tent To A Vehicle
Back up the vehicle until its bumper touches the lower sleeve(Fig 6). Place the upper sleeve over the raised rear hatch door (Fig 7).
Buckle the upper sleeve’s (2) top straps around the roof rack’s rear cross bar (Fig 8). Adjust the location of the rear cross bar if necessary. If the vehicle is without a cross bar, clip the extension straps’ J-hooks to the vehicle’s windshield wipers (Fig 9 and Fig 10).
Center the tent on the back of the vehicle. Make sure the lower sleeve is above the vehicle’s muffler. Lower the rear hatch door just enough to buckle the lower sleeve’s E strap over it (Fig 11). Adjust the strap to provide a snug fit when the rear hatch door is raised again.
Attach the lower sleeve’s F and G straps to the inside of the vehicle’s cargo area (Fig 12).
Attach the A and B straps to the vehicle’s wheel well and tighten (Fig 13). Run the C strap under the vehicle’s wheel well and clip it to the D strap and tighten (Fig 13). Repeat these steps to the straps on the other side of the vehicle.
Stake The SUV Tent And Add The Rainfly
Stake the corners, sides, and guy lines of the tent (Fig 14 and Fig 15).
Add the rainfly to the tent if needed (Fig 16). Connect the rainfly’s (2) male buckles to the awning’s (2) female buckles (Fig 17), its (2) Velcro tabs around the end poles (Fig 18), and its (4) elastic tensioners to the corner rings (Fig 19).
To have use of the vehicle for the day, simply disconnect the tent’s upper and lower sleeves and close the vehicle opening. Move the vehicle away from the tent. Secure the upper and the lower sleeve to the tent’s body by the dowel and loop fasteners (Fig 20).
Take Down The SUV Tent
Disconnect the upper and lower sleeves and move the vehicle away from the tent. Zip up all windows and doors, leaving a small opening for air to escape. Release the pole clips, lift the poles from the pole pins, and lower the SUV Tent to the ground. Pull out all stakes and place them in the stake bag. Push all poles out of the pole sleeves and place them in the pole bag.
Fold the sides of the tent in, leaving a 6-8’’ in the middle (Fig 21). Fold side A over side B. Fold the (2) ends of the tent in, leaving a gap in the middle (Fig 22).
Place the pole bag, stake bag, and rainfly on one of the folded ends (Fig 22). Roll the tent as tightly as possible and place it in the carry bag (Fig 23).
