The Car Back Carrier was developed and patented by RightlineGear (US Patent 7,475,799). The idea was to develop an easy to load, easy to handle cargo storage solution that would not create aerodynamic drag on a vehicle. It was to have the same great features as car top carrier cargo bags, but with these added benefits. The PackRight Cargo Saddlebag is the result. It is the inexpensive, easy to use, next generation cargo storage solution.
The Cargo Saddlebag is designed for duffel bags, suitcases, tents, sleeping bags, coats, and other relatively soft and light weight items. Please avoid coolers or other heavy or hard items. If you have a few small hard items, they can be packed in the center of the bag, surrounded by the softer items-no problem. The Cargo Saddlebag is a breeze to attach to your vehicle:
1-Attach the two primary side straps to the luggage rack, making sure the pads are face down on the top rear corner of the vehicle. Adjust the strap glides so that no excess strap material will flap in the wind.
2-Adjust the straps so that the bottom of the bag is level with the top of the bumper. Keep the Saddlebag and straps away from the hot exhaust system. Accessories such as the door, window, wiper, etc. may not be operable while the Saddlebag is attached. Load limit for the Saddlebag is the lesser of 100 lbs and the weight limit of the vehicle’s luggage rack.
3-Run the (2) one-inch wide straps through the guides at the bottom of the bag and attach to the tow hitch, bumper, or underneath the vehicle.
4-The two-inch wide strap can be used optionally in one of two ways:
a. Run it along the inside width of the vehicle’s rear door, shutting the door over the strap. Continue around the girth of the bag, tightening the strap like a belt around your waste. This configuration will provide a back-up point of attachment to the vehicle. Excess strap material can be cut off and the edge burned for no fraying.
b. Run it through the guide under the bag, up and over the top of the vehicle, under the front luggage cross bar, and back down to snap into its other end. This configuration will help to distribute the weight of the Saddlebag evenly across the entire luggage rack.
5-Test drive your vehicle with the Saddlebag fully loaded prior to your trip to ensure correct installation.
NOTE: Emergency access to the rear door and/or window of your vehicle will be extremely limited when using this product. No occupants in the vehicle should require access through the rear door while this product is in use. Make sure that you have a clear view through the rear window before driving. |
